Photo Analysis “On your Mark”

I made this image when my family was on vacation last year at Disney World. We had just finished dinner at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall and were walking to Test Track. On our way, we came across this sunset. Sunset photos can be challenging. They are a dime a dozen, search sunset photos and you are just flooded with images. As a photographer I usually don’t get too excited for a sunset shots but then I noticed the Mark VI monorail coming.
Now I had a vision! I remember scrambling to get my camera out of it’s bag. As I was pulling it out I was jogging to get closer. I only had about 20 seconds to get into place, frame the picture and change my settings in the camera. I was only able to get off 2 frames before the Mark VI was gone.
I like how the rails and the walkway across the water bring your eyes to the monorail. The clouds provided some dramatic feeling to the image and the glow off the water is nice. Quite honestly the most impressive thing to me is the speed at which all this happened! Just more of a reason I need to carry my camera with me more often, you never know when a great photograph will appear!!

Photo Analysis “Big Red-Orange”

This photo was taken a couple of year ago on a family session. We were in downtown Monroe, which is a great place for some old town look. It wasn’t too long before we found our way into an alley. When I saw the doors with the signs and the colorful brick, I knew I wanted to get a shot there! Fortunately the clients were very trusting of me and very flexible. They wanted something more unique than the normal family session.
I really like how I posed the family, giving them space and room for their own personality to punch through. I love how the doors and the window break up the red-orange brick. And having the family members at different heights really gave me a more unique family photo. Their expressions were perfect and just added to the feel of the photograph!
